Monson - Carolyn R. (Umble) Scrivner, 86, passed into the Lord's arms surrounded by her loving family on Monday September 4, 2017. She is now at peace in her Sanctuary as she liked to call it. Born January 6, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Marguerite Umble.
She met her husband the late Thomas R. Scrivner in college in Springfield, Ohio and raised her family in Springfield, Ohio. In 1970 when her beloved Thomas took a job in Massachusetts she moved her family to West Springfield, MA. She lived the latter part of her life with many friends at Colonial Village in Monson. She was an avid cook and loved reading her many cookbooks and recipes that her family had the pleasure of enjoying for many years. She loved her birds, flowers and wolves and contributed regularly to Wildlife protection programs.
A deep love for her family, she will be sadly missed by her children, Thomas II and his wife, Sara, Alan and his wife, Suzanne Boniface and Rebecca Coderre and her husband, Dan, along with her grandchildren, Adam and Sam Scrivner and Erin Hand and her Great Grandchildren, Julianna, Mia and Mason Scrivner. She also leaves her brother-in-law, James C. Scrivner of Fort Myers, Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home. For those wishing, donations may be made to Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th Street N.W., Washington D.C. 20036.
