Ware - Joseph Butch E. Kenyon, 72, passed away at home on July 13, 2017. Born on March 6, 1945 in Monson, MA, son of Archie T. and Grace E. (Inman) Kenyon. He grew up in Palmer, and lived in Brimfield for 20 years before moving to Ware in 2005.
He leaves his loving wife Caroline J. (Bourque) Kenyon; five children, Dorothy Ayer and her husband, Jason of New Braintree, Diane Kenyon of New Braintree, MSgt. Joseph Kenyon of Roanoake, VA, Bobby Kenyon of New Braintree and Glenn Kenyon of Brimfield; two step-children, Elisa and Mckenzie Jackson of Escondido, CA; his sister, Mary-Lou Kenyon of Three Rivers; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Joseph Jr, Riley, Haley, Alaiyna, Evelyn and Brayden; and many nieces and nephews .
He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1963 and later transferred into the Air National Guard where he retired after 26 years as a TSgt in 1988. After his military service, he went to work as a machinist at Jarvis and Jarvis for 33 years. He was an active member of the AmVets Post 74 in Three Rivers since 1964 and was elected State Commander of the AmVets on July 1, 2016. A proud patriot, he enjoyed helping veterans and often made visits to the VA Hospital. He loved playing in the Post 74 pitch league, playing horseshoes, tending to his vegetable gardens, deep sea fishing, traveling to air shows, and playing slots at the casino.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 19, from 4 to 7p.m. at Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. (Rte.20). A Committal Service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 10 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1390 Main St., Agawam. A Remembrance Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the AmVets Post 74, 2150 Main St., Three Rivers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AmVets Post 74. For more information please visit
