Marion Stephenson Obituary
October 31, 1930 - February 8, 2017
Born in Brooklyn, NY
Resided in Palmer, MA
She achieved her BA from the University of Vermont and, following her marriage, moved to Darien, CT, later to Palmer, where she has lived since 1955. Marion took an active role in her church and community. A longtime member of Second Congregational Church, Marion was formerly active in its Women's Fellowship, Couples Club and Operation Friendship. She was also a supporter of the Palmer Public Library from its beginnings, and served as its President for many years. She was also a volunteer at the Wing Memorial Hospital Gift Wing many years ago. And of course, her role as a wife, mother, "Grandy" and "Great Grandy" were central to her heart.
She was predeceased by her husband J. Daniel in 1993 after 41 years of marriage. She will be deeply missed by her children, Leslie Teale, Jeffrey Stephenson, and Melanie Bridges, along with her precious grandchildren Scott and wife Jen Teale, Alexandra Teale, Ali (Stephenson) and her husband Gus Guerrero, and Tessa Bridges, along with her great grandson Carter Teale. Additionally, her loving companion and best friend of 23 years, Jules Gaudreau, and his family will miss her gentle spirit in their lives.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18 from 2:00 - 3:30 at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a closing remembrance service at 3:30 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by making donations to Second Congregational Church for the benefit of new hymnals, 1080 Pleasant St. Palmer, 01069 or Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101-6307.
