Obituary

Belchertown - Thomas W. "Tucker" Moran, 84, died suddenly at home on July 12, 2017. Born November 24, 1932 in Northampton, MA, he was the son of Thomas and Catherine (Kelley) Moran.

He was a graduate of Amherst High School, Class of 1950, and the University of Massachusetts School of Business in 1959. Tucker worked as a Casualty Superintendent for United States Fidelity and Guarantee Co. in Baltimore, Boston, Hartford and Springfield. He ended his professional career at the Blair, Cutting and Smith Agency in Amherst. He was a member of the UMass Alumni Association, a supporter of UMass Athletics, and a lifelong Red Sox fan. He was proud of his service in the US Navy, having served on the aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet during the Korean War.

He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Knights of Columbus in Belchertown. Left to mourn him are his soul mate and loving wife of fifty two years, Margot (Austin), and his devoted son Thomas "Darby" Moran of Nome, Alaska, his sisters Sheliah Moran of Greenfield, and Eleanor Evans of Sunderland, and his sister-in-law Nancy Pratt of Belchertown, along with his niece and nephew Mary Beth and Peter Evans. Additionally, the Moran and Austin extended families, and a multitude of friends will forever miss him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a dear cousin Richard T. Moran, and his mother-in-law Ann Austin.

A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 18 at St. Michael's Cathedral, 260 State St., Springfield, MA at 11:00 a.m., where he was a communicant and member of the staff. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. Calling hours will be Monday, July 17 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte.202) Belchertown, MA.
