Obituary for Michael McEvady

Belchertown - Michael F. McEvady, 60, was called safely home on February 5, 2019 in Baystate Medical Center. He passed into eternal life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born August 29, 1958 in Holyoke, MA, and he lived most of his life in Granby before moving to Belchertown. In the past he worked as a dish washer at Blue Bonnet restaurant in Northampton. He was very proud of his achievements with the Special Olympics, and enjoyed competing in shot put and received many awards for this. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching old western movies and 22 News. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time helping his dad, whether it was in the hay fields or in the garage. He was predeceased by his father Francis McCourt and brothers, Bruce and Thomas McEvady. He is survived by his mother Yvonne "Claire" McCourt of Granby, sister Yvonne Rondeau and her husband Kevin with whom he lived in Belchertown, sister Shelly Harris and her husband Keith of Granby, sister Patricia Scibelli, brothers Brian McEvady of Chicopee, Matthew McCourt and his wife Marie of Granby, Kevin McCourt of Shutesbury and many foster siblings. He also leaves his nieces Felicia and Samantha, nephews Michael, Gregory, Keith, Jr., and Kyle and many great nieces and great nephews. Michael's family would also like to thank his doctor, nurses, personal care attendants (Kristen/Esther) and DDS workers for all their care, love and support they gave him in his life.
