Obituary of Roy Louis Roberts

Belchertown- Roy Louis Roberts, 92, passed away March 13, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1931 in Springfield to the late Ernest G. and Nellie Mae (Lynn) Roberts. Roy grew up in Brimfield and attended the Hitchcock Free Academy and later UMass Amherst. He was a proud Air Force veteran who served 4 years as Staff Sargent during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service, Roy worked as a self-employed electrician for many years before joining Nokia as an Electrical Engineer. Roy was married to his beloved wife Eleanor (Ducey) Roberts for 63 years before she passed away in 2020. Roy and Eleanor lived in West Brookfield for 64 years, during which time he served on a variety of town boards for many years. They enjoyed skiing, world travel, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed tinkering on engines especially tractors, flying, and Sunday afternoon rides throughout New England. His love of cars has been passed down through the generations. Besides his parents and wife Eleanor, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, George, William (Bud), Eugene and Raymond. He leaves behind three daughters: Catherine Palo and husband David of Westminster MA, Linda Rosenberg and husband Jesus of Naples FL, and MaryAnn Kalipolites and husband Paul of Orlando FL. He also leaves three cherished grandchildren, Lucas Palo of Westminster, Rebecca Bendar and Zachary Rosenberg of Naples. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday March 28, 2024 from 10:00-11:30am with a funeral service to begin at 11:30am at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Brimfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy's memory can be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, 18R West Main St. West Brookfield MA 01585 or to Rose Monahan Hospice, 10 Judith Rd. Worcester MA 01602.
