Obituary of Alfred L. Gormick

South Hadley - Alfred L. Gormick, 94, passed away March 13, 2024, at his home. Born on Aug. 27, 1929, in Springfield, MA to William and Dora (Simcouitzer) Soltys. Al has lived in South Hadley for 35 years and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Parish, previously he was a member of St Anthony of Padua in Chicopee. Al owned Gormick Food Brokers Inc., for over 60 years; he was still currently working. He was a member of the Pizzitola Strummers and loved to golf and garden. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Elsie "Sue" (Mikszewski) Gormick in 2014. He is survived by his niece, Susan Lyons of Chicopee and nephew, Daniel Dubovik (Jen) of Phoenix, NY, he also leaves many other nieces, nephews and friends. A calling hour will be held at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Thursday, Mar. 21, 2024, from 9:30-10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. A special tribute honoring Al Gormick will be held on Sunday, April 14th at 7:00pm at the 350 Bar & Grill in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
