Obituary of Richard E. Lukasik

Richard E. Lukasik, a lifelong resident of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on March 14th after a short illness. Born on March 31, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Klosinski) Lukasik of South Hadley. Richard attended local schools and graduated from Holyoke Trade High School.

 

He proudly served in the US Navy from 1951-1955 as an Aviation Electrician. He attended

Aviations Electrician School in Jacksonville, FL and was stationed at Quonset Point in Rhode Island. He had tours in Newfoundland and Malta as a ECM Operator with Patrol Squadron VP 11.

 

Richard had a long, successful career as a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 7. He enjoyed helping his children by wiring their houses and assisting with many other electrical projects.

 

He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping; he spent countless long weekends in Rhode Island with his family. With his wife Helen, he loved traveling across the US and the Caribbean Islands. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during holidays. He took great pride growing fruits and vegetables to feed the family, and loved following the Red Sox, Celtics, New York Football Giants and professional wrestling.

 

Richard was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of Saint Theresa of Lisieux Church of South Hadley.

 

Richard was predeceased by the love of his life, Helen (Dzialo), to whom he was married for 53 wonderful years. He was also predeceased by his daughter Dolores Lukasik and son Gregory Lukasik. He leaves his children, Richard Lukasik JR (Donna) of Springfield, Diane Trzpit (Richard) of Ware, Steven Lukasik (Nancy) of Chicopee, John Lukasik (Gail) of Granby, and AnnMarie Lambert (David) of Warwick. He also leaves thirteen loving grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Phyllis Babula of South Hadley.

 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home from 4:00pm-7:00pm. On Friday a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa of Lisieux Church at 10:00 am. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa of Lisieux Church.
