Obituary of Thomas V. Richard

South Hadley-Thomas V. Richard, 56, passed away at his mom's home surrounded by family on April 24, 2024. He was born on September 12, 1967, in Holyoke, the son of the late Roger N. Richard and Maureen (McCormack) Canata of Agawam. Thomas was a lifelong resident of South Hadley and involved with the Viability and Sunshine Village programs. He was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to work at Westover Air Force Base in the Maintenace department for 10 years, his dream job. Tom was the proudest American you ever met. He had a large collection of American flags, and military and service badges. He was an avid New England sports fan and most of all had the kindest heart and loved everyone. He is survived by his mother Maureen Canata and her husband Tom of Agawam, his siblings, Melissa Davis of Springfield, Karyann Peyman of Belchertown and Kristen McNeish of NC. He also leaves his nephew Daniel Richard whom he shared a special bond with and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his father Roger and his brother, John Richard. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 5th from 2:00-5:00pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you show an act of kindness in his memory.
