Obituary of Steven L. Gouger, Jr.

South Hadley-Steven L. Gouger, Jr. 53, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2024. Born in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of  Carole (Lesniak) Gouger of Holyoke. Steven grew up in South Hadley and Chicopee. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1989-1997 and served as an airborne/air assault infantryman. From 1998-2001 he was a reserve police officer for the town of Granby. Steven graduated from the MA Reservice/Intermittent Police Academy and was a manager of the Security Department at Holyoke Medical Center. He then went on to be a civilian police officer at Westover Air Force Base Department of Defense for 10 years. He was a member of the Industrial Assocation for Healthcare Safety & Security and also the American Society of International Security. Steven was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed watching football and wrestling. Annual trips to Harwich Port for family vacations were truly treasured times. Steven's love will remain with his wife of 24 years, Lisa A. Morin-Gouger along with daughter, Arianna Gouger and foster son, Ryan Geyer. His mother, Carole, along with sisters, Tracy and Tammy and Gerard Gagne as well as nieces and nephews, Mason, Morgan, Alyssa, Stephanie, Nick, Brianna, Laura and Crissy will also treasure his memory. Ronald and Eileen Morin, Ron, Lynn and Don are in-laws that also survive him. In 2020, Steven was predeceased by his brother, Shawn A. Gouger. Visitation will be Monday, May 6 from 4-6pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather at 9am at the funeral home on Tuesday to process to a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Donations may be made in Steve's memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, where Steve was a patient 4 years ago.
